Santa Tresa spearheads revival of indigenous Orisi grape

In July of this year the Sicilian red variety Orisi was recognised by the Gazetta Ufficiale Regione Siciliana as an indigenous grape variety that can be included on a bottle’s label. This status was gained in strong part thanks to the work of Stefano Girelli who has cultivated the grape at his Santa Tresa vineyard in Vittoria in an experimental vineyard (pictured) for the last decade.

Holly Ninnes (pictured, left) joins in the newly created role of commercial buyer, with Mark Juggins (right) stepping in as the company’s latest head of off-trade. The new additions are part of a wider five-year growth strategy which seeks to expand the business’s commercial footprint.

North South Wines hosts 24-Hour peloton ride to support mental health charity

North South Wines, a B Corp-certified wine importer based in Bicester, is holding its first major fundraising event for new charity partner Restore with a 24-hour “Pelotonathon” from Thursday 3 October to Friday 4 October. The team will ride two Peloton bikes non-stop to raise funds for Restore, an Oxfordshire-based mental health charity.
